Harper Commits to Clemson!

Cullen Harper, one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Georgia this year, has commited to play football for Clemson University. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder completed 64-percent of his passes for over a 1,000 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only three interceptions last year.

Harper spoke extensively with offensive line coach Ron West and quarterbacks coach Mike O'Cain at a Clemson camp earlier this summer, but it was coach O'Cain who was sending as many as 4 letters a week to the rising senior.

"Coach O'Cain was real excited to get my phone call, even though it won't be for another year until he'll get the chance to work with me," said Harper in an interview with CUTigers.com.

Ironically, Harper's father played football for the University of Georgia.

"He doesn't care about that though," added Harper. "He always liked Clemson, and he's happy that I'm going to be going there."

Harper had formal scholarship offers from South Caroina, Duke, and Middle Tennessee State. You can read more about Harper's commitment, and see exclusive highlights of his junior season, in our extensive Q&A session by clicking here!

Harper, who is the 8th verbal commitment for new recruiting coordinator David Blackwell, is the first quarterback that has verbally commited to Clemson for the 2004 class. The Tigers are expected to take one more this year, possibly a dual-threat QB.
