North, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver from Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek, says he's focused on Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Tennessee.
"Really, I just like their conference play and the history of those schools," North said. "They all individually have good things to offer me. I just have to see what's best for me really."
Five of those schools – Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Tennessee – are slated to receive official visits from North.
"These five schools are where I want to take official visits to because I can't really travel there," North said. "People have been asking me if [North] Carolina and Clemson are still in the hunt. They're still in the hunt. It's just I could go up there any time."
North hasn't scheduled or taken any official visits yet. However, he continued to take unofficial visits over the weekend with a trip to Knoxville for the Florida-Tennessee game.
Previously, North attended UNC's season opener against Elon where he was impressed by what he saw from the Tar Heels' new up-tempo, spread offense.
"I really liked the offense," North said. "It was real fast and the spread is something similar to what I run here.
Additionally, North, who attended three games at UNC last season, was impressed by the changes to UNC's game day atmosphere.
"It's just really fiery in a way," North said. "They're just trying to get their crowd hyped and get the crowd involved."
North is considering graduating early from Mallard Creek, which would accelerate his recruitment.
"I haven't decided yet," North said. "I'm on the verge of it, but I doubt it though. I just really want to do track again for my senior year to see how far I make it in that."
If he doesn't graduate early, North says there's a good chance his recruitment extends until Signing Day.
Not having a clear cut favorite, each and every visit will play a major role in North's collegiate decision.
"I'm not looking for anything specific," North said. "I'm just going to go up there, see what they have to offer and evaluate afterwards."
