Big-time OT visits Clemson

One of the top offensive tackle prospects in the Carolinas' class of 2014 has made trips to three schools this fall. On Saturday, he'll visit his fourth campus of the season.

OT Trip McNeill Profile

Davie County High School [Mocksville, N.C.] junior Trip McNeill rode down to Clemson for the Furman game. And, two weekends ago, he attended the Duke/Memphis game. He's visited Wake Forest three times this season, twice as a recruit.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect will be back on the road this weekend.

"[This] week, I'm going to the UNC and Virginia Tech game. After that, I'm not really sure," he said in a recent interview with CUTigers.

How was the Clemson visit?

"It was nice. I went up, right as I was signing in, coach [Danny] Pearman, my recruiter walked in. He said he'd be right up. So I signed up, went upstairs and got a bite to eat. I saw coach [Robbie] Caldwell up there, talked to him for a good bit. Then, coach Pearman came up there. We talked for a good bit. It was me and my mom."

With Caldwell and Pearman, "[They] was just talking about how the season has been going, how everything is going for them down there, how they're looking. And we were talking about my season, how my team has been doing."

McNeill is no stranger to the Wake Forest campus.

"My mom works for Wake, so we have season tickets there. I like to go up to games that are against teams I'm also getting recruited by, so I can see another game of theirs, when they're in an away environment and not at home," he said.

The Duke trip went well, too.

"I like the coaches at Duke a lot, as well as the coaches at Clemson and Wake," McNeill said. "Coach [David] Cutcliffe has done a lot down there in changing their team around and really stepping them up."

Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia and Wake Forest have offered.

Clemson continues to evaluate him.

"They say they like me a lot down there. I'm just waiting on one," McNeill said. Top Stories
