There's a chance the former Silver Bluff High School standout will make an impact upon his arrival to Tigertown.

"I'm just ready to go up there and help," he told CUTigers in a recent interview. "I'm preparing myself and I'm just ready to go up there and lay it on the line for them."

When Tankersley gets to Clemson in January, he'll join defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison as a cornerback.

Right now, Tankersley is in the midst of his post graduate season at Hargrave Military Academy.

Tankersley has played both cornerback and wide receiver this season. On the defensive side of the ball, he has 22 tackles, six pass breakups and an interception for a touchdown.

"I'm just using that to get better for Clemson. I'm playing the corner position, trying to learn the corner position," Tankersley said. "I'm already getting good at that. I'm trying to get better and be more flexible in my hips."

In the classroom, he's taking Algebra II, Probability and Stats, English for College Bound and Reading.

"I just needed the math. They just gave me the other Reading class just to take it," Tankersley said. "[To qualify] I either need the grades or the test score."

He's managed to keep an eye on the Tigers while up in Chatham, Va.

"I either watch it on reruns on YouTube, but I'll go back and watch the game on YouTube…I was home for the Florida State game, so that was pretty much the only one I've seen live," Tankersley said. Top Stories
