FAMU heads to Clemson

A week after their tough loss to Arizona, the Clemson hoops team is back in action at Littlejohn Coliseum against Florida A&M.

WHAT: Clemson vs. Florida A&M
WHERE: Littlejohn Coliseum (10,000) - Clemson, S.C.
WHEN: Saturday, December 15 (7 p.m.)
TV: ESPN3 (Don Munson, Ralph Patterson)

Led by second-year head coach Clemon Johnson, the Rattlers are 4-6 heading into Saturday night's 7 p.m. tipoff.

Saturday is the just the second-time that Clemson [5-3] and Florida A&M have met on the hardwood. Back in 1985-86, the Tigers won the first matchup between the two schools, 96-52.

This season, Florida A&M is led by Jamie Adams, who averages 17 points per game.

"[He's] a guy that can go both ways, score off the bounce, shoot deep 3's, run some isolation stuff where they really try to whip you 1-on-1 a lot," Brad Brownell said.

The Tigers' third-year head coach went on to break down the Rattlers' style of play.

"They're not complicated in how they play," he said. "They run some ball screen stuff, like most people, a couple of secondary actions, but they have guys that certainly can score on their own. Scoring hasn't been a problem for them.

"They play a little different types of defenses. They'll soft press you some, occasionally hard press, they'll mix in zone and man. They play a lot of different ways."

Brownell added that Florida A&M is capable of hanging with high-major opponents, as evidenced by tightly contested games against Houston and Arizona State.

"The Arizona State game was a good game for a while. They almost beat Houston in Houston," Brownell said. "They've played some high-majors and played them well. A lot of it, I think, is because they can score."
