WHAT: Clemson at Coastal Carolina
WHERE: HTC Center (3,212) - Conway, S.C.
WHEN: Wednesday, December 19 (7 p.m.)
TV: ESPN3 (Darren Goldwater, Nate Ross)
It was last November, when Coastal Carolina knocked off Clemson, 60-59, when Chris Gradnigo tipped in his own missed shot as time expired.
The 3-5 Chanticleers will host the Tigers [6-3] on Wednesday night for 7 o'clock tipoff.
"We definitely have to get this win back," said Devin Booker, who is second on the team in scoring [11.2] and first in rebounding [7.7].
Revenge won't be a big part of the pre-game speech delivered by Brad Brownell.
"The older guys know," Brownell said. "We'll show some clips that will remind them -- just like we would for any game -- guys making plays and those types of things."
The third-year head coach just wants his team to continue playing "positive basketball."
Clemson will face a Coastal Carolina squad that's led by a guard trio that combines to for over 40 points per game.
Anthony Raffa is 17th in the country with 20.4 points per game while fellow senior Kierre Greenwood averages 11.8 points and 4.5 assists. Warren Gillis is third on the team in scoring with an average of 10 points.
"Greenwood and Raffa are both experienced, really good players," Brownell said, "Certainly, have had success against us. Coach [Cliff] Ellis does a great job. They play all different kinds of defenses, mix things up. I'm sure we'll see a bunch of different things tomorrow."
Wednesday will be the first game since the 2000-01 season that Coastal Carolina has hosted Clemson. That year, the two teams played at the Convention Center. This time the teams will face each other in the HTC Center, which opened earlier this season.
"It'll be another great environment. Go to another school in the state, play them on their home court, you expect a good crowd," Brownell said. "I just hope we have some Clemson fans from the coast to support us."
