Register adding offers

Chris Register is one of the top prospects in the 2014 class. The Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley star has seen his stock continue to rise over the past few months.

Chris Register has been on the recruiting radar for several schools for quite a while, and the 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker now has double-digit scholarship offers.

"I have at least 10 (offers)," said Register. "Ole Miss, Florida, and Virginia are the latest schools to offer. I think Ohio State and South Carolina could be close. I also hope Alabama is offers."

Over the past few weeks, a couple of schools have been on the Dudley campus.

"Since the dead period ended, N.C. State and Florida have been by my school," Register said. "Coach (D.J.) Durkin (Florida assistant coach) talked to me for a long time about getting down there to visit and N.C. State wants me to come down and meet the new staff. Clemson also wants me to visit."

Register mentioned Ohio State, Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Louisville as the schools that have been sending him the most mail. He then went on to say he has also had contact with Auburn, Nebraska, and LSU.

Despite all the interest, Register is taking the process slow and his main focus is not recruiting.

"No schools are standing out, they are all pretty equal," he said. "Right now, I'm just focused on school because my junior year is the hardest year (of high school) that I'm going to have."

Although Register is not focused on recruiting, the four-star prospect does have a tentative timeline for his decision.

"After the summer, I want to narrow it down to probably 10," he said. "I'm not sure when I'm going to cut it five, but I'm going to take all five of my official visits."

"I would like to have my decision made prior to Signing Day, but you never know how it will all work out."

During his junior season, Register had 111 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five forced fumbles, two interceptions, and three pass breakups. Top Stories
