Hearn commits to Clemson

On Monday night, Clemson picked up a commitment from 2014 offensive tackle Taylor Hearn, who was in Tigertown on Saturday for the year's first Junior Day.

"I've been giving it a lot of thought lately, praying about it. I just decided that's where I really needed to be and wanted to be," Hearn told CUTigers on Monday.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound prospect from Williston-Elko High School was sold on Clemson before he arrived for Saturday's event.

"I had been planning on it before that," he said.

So why not pull the trigger while on campus?

"Coach [Marion] Hobby, my parents and me sat down and talked about it right there before we left," Hearn said. "He just said to go home, pray about it a little bit more, think about it and make sure that I was committed.

"I did. And about 30 minutes ago, I made it official."

There were several factors that made him want to join the Tigers' 2014 class.

"First of all, the coaching staff, they're very family-oriented," Hearn said. "You can tell they care about you and want the best for you. I like how it's a small town campus. It's not too big. It's not too far away from home, about three hours."

He also had an offer from North Carolina.
