Quoteboard: Miami 45 Clemson 43

CLEMSON - Another close game against a tournament-bound opponent, another close loss. It's starting to become old hat.

But that doesn't make it any easier for Brad Brownell and company.

With a chance to upset No. 3 Miami before a near capacity crowd at Littlejohn Coliseum, Clemson fell 45-43 on Sunday night -- just another tight loss in a season that's racked up more than a fair share of almosts and what ifs.

"It's definitely frustrating," said Devin Booker, who scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

"Any loss is frustrating. You don't want to lose. You want to win every game. We've just got to move on, put it in the past."

According to Jordan Roper, that's been the mentality after all of this season's near misses against quality opponents.

"You can't give up," he said. "I don't know what else to say. We have to learn from our mistakes, learn from these losses and move forward. We can't give up."

Another big night from Roper…

"For me, personally, I just took what the defense gives me. Rod [Hall] set me up for a lot of open shots and opportunities. There were lanes for me to attack." - Roper

"Roper made big shots, especially some tough, guarded shots. He played with a lot of confidence on offense. He played at a very high level tonight and it was certainly very much needed. We hope he can continue that." - Brownell

Kenny Kadji's game-winning 3…

"Kadji's 3 was big. It was one of the very few ball screen mistakes that we made, and he hit a big shot." - Brownell "Durand Scott drove into the lane and threw it back out to Kenny. He buried a 3. It's not like we ran a set play, someone got separation, and hit a jumper. This is just tough, hard-nosed competitors going at each other from start to finish, kind of like Roper did." - Jim Larranaga

"We just stayed a long time on the ball. We really should have switched it." - Brownell

Handling Miami's size...

"Miami's defense was very good. Defensively, their size is problematic, especially around the basket. They bother post players' shots. Having said that, I thought we got the ball in great places on a lot of possessions, but you need to score to win." - Brownell

"It really wasn't them. It was me. I just wasn't hitting shots that I normally make. I kept trying. Some of them fell, some of them didn't. It's the game." - Booker
