"I am definitely going to have a decision made this summer," Kevin Crosby told Scout. "It could be in June or it could be in July, but it definitely will be before my senior year. I want to be able to focus on my senior season."
When Crosby makes his decision in the coming months, it will likely be one of five schools.
He is currently favoring Alabama, Clemson, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Crosby talks a little about each favorite here:
Alabama: "The first thing is me and Coach Rumph have a great relationship. I was at their camp last summer and we got to know each other. I like how they use their H-Back/tight end and I know they want me there."
Clemson: "They get the tight end the ball at Clemson, so I really like that. I like their offense and I just like how they would use me."
Florida: "Coach Lewis has made it clear to me that Florida wants me and needs me. They have had some big-time tight ends in the past too, so I like that. I will probably visit them this summer to get a better look at them."
North Carolina: "UNC has been recruiting me hard for a long time and I have to keep them in there. They are the only school telling me I'd play linebacker, but that is OK. I really like playing both sides of the ball and I really like the coaches at North Carolina."
South Carolina: "I just visited Carolina last week and I like it there. I think I would fit in well there and the coaches have done a great job of recruiting me from the beginning."
Most schools want Crosby to play tight end for them, but like UNC, Scout likes the 6-foot-2, 225 pound junior out of Bamberg-Erhardt (S.C.) as a linebacker on the next level. He can do both well.
Crosby favors playing offense.
"I am open to either side of the ball, but I really like tight end because I get the ball in my hands. I have been playing defense since I was little and I like hitting, but I use that physical style of play on offense too. I have to score when I get the ball and I would love the opportunity to play tight end in college."
He now looks forward to making this big decision.
"I am getting close," he said. "I make take a couple more visits, but I am getting close. I will be ready to commit to one school this summer and then I will be done with the recruiting process.
"I have been getting recruited since ninth grade, so it has been a long process. I am ready."
