Venables offers top Florida ATH

Earlier this month, the Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables sent out an offer to Jeffery Holland, a sophomore at Trinity Christian Academy.

LB Jeffery Holland Profile

Holland is a sophomore linebacker/running back at the same Jacksonville high school that sent Jamie Harper to Clemson.

"My coach called me into the office and he told me. He wanted me to give them a call back to talk with [Venables]. I called him back and spoke with him for a while," Holland told CUTigers in a recent interview.

What was the message?

"He just spoke with me about the future and how could I come in and play. How I should just keep working harder, to get better and bigger in the weight room."

Holland, who checks in at 6-2, 220 pounds, knows a little bit about Clemson.

"I see them on TV a lot. I know they have a good team and they're very hard working. They're a traditional team," he said. "I know a former player, Jamie, he played for them. I know he had a great time up there and he didn't have any trouble up there."

Holland has over 15 offers.

"I have a little [list] -- Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina and then Clemson. Those are the ones that I'm liking right now," he said.

Holland visited Florida State for junior day and the spring game. Earlier this spring and went to Florida to watch a couple of practices.

As a sophomore, Holland rushed for 750 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 11 sacks.
