Maryland end visiting on Thursday

Earlier this month, the Clemson coaching staff sent an offer to this 2014 defensive end from Maryland. He's visiting Clemson on Thursday.

Middletown High School junior Ricky Leonard will make the trek down to Clemson on Thursday for his first trip to Tigertown.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound prospect likes a few things that Clemson has to offer.

"I like the location. I like that they're in the ACC. They have a good program," he told CUTigers in a recent interview.

Leonard added, "I'm going to tour the facilities, go around campus, meet the coaches, talk to coach Swinney -- just see what they're all about."

So far this spring, he's visited Ole Miss, West Virginia, Rutgers and Maryland. All of those schools have offered. So have Arizona and Tennessee.

However, it's "too early" for Leonard to start thinking about which schools he favors.

"Clemson, I like them a lot. That's why I'm going down there," he said.

Several factors will be considered as he moves through the recruiting process.

"The biggest thing is connection with the coach, position coach. And just the people and the environment, I'm going to be there for four or five years," Leonard said.

As a junior, Leonard had 67 tackles, 12 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss. Top Stories
