Morris, Scott offer freshman QB

The Clemson coaching staff had already tendered a few freshman prospects before sending out their first offer to a quarterback in the class of 2016.

On Tuesday, Clemson became offer No. 1 for Feleipe Franks, a freshman quarterback Wakulla High School in Crawfordville, Fla.

"That was fun to get my first offer my chest," Franks told CUTigers later that night.

It was a bit of a surprise.

"I really didn't think it was going to be Clemson first. I knew they had some interest in me, but I didn't think they had that much interest in me, to offer me," he said.

Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Chad Morris and recruiting coordinator/wide receivers coach Jeff Scott came by the school on Tuesday to drop off the offer.

"They don't offer many ninth graders, I guess," Franks said.

Clemson will host him next month for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp. Franks will also visit Florida, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Florida State.

Behind senior starter Caleb Stephens, Franks completed 27 of 51 passes for 523 yards with six touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed seven times for 29 yards. Top Stories
