Clemson and Florida State have emerged ahead of the pack of offers out to Register, a rising senior at Dudley High School in Greensboro, N.C.

"Clemson is on top," he told CUTigers over the weekend.

Why does Clemson lead?

"They were the first to offer. I just love the atmosphere at Clemson."

The Tigers' coaches haven't decided which linebacker spot Register would play if he was to attend Clemson.

"They're recruiting me for any. But, right now, I play middle. Some [recruiting services] are saying outside or d-end, but I don't play either of those right now," he said.

It doesn't matter which position he lines up at on Saturday.

"I just want to play," Register said.

Florida State is second behind Clemson. A decision will be made shortly after his June 11 trip to Tallahassee.

"I may do it in the middle of June," Register said.

During the spring evaluation period, Robbie Caldwell and Marion Hobby both stopped by Dudley.

"Coach Caldwell came this past week and coach Hobby came the week before," Register said.

He added, "They talked with my coaches."

Miami, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida State, N.C. State and UNC also stopped by.

During his junior season, Register had 111 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five forced fumbles, two interceptions and three pass breakups.

In nine games as a sophomore, Register had 90 tackles, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles, four interceptions and three pass break-ups. Top Stories
