"[Gossett] would have had to pitch a heck of a ballgame, hold them to less than two runs, because that's all we scored off of their guy," Leggett said. "I'm almost glad we didn't [start Gossett].
"Now, at least we've got him."
Translation: Gossett will start in the Saturday loser's bracket game, regardless of who the opponent is.
"In hindsight, I'm feeling good with who we've got in there [Saturday]," Leggett said.
Cold bats…"A lot of guys were anxious to get up there and start swinging, weren't letting the ball get there, pulling off and making it easy for their defense to work, instead of sitting back and being willing to let the ball travel and come to you, not being so anxious to get going and get it." - Thomas Brittle
"All year long, we haven't been on top of our game, offensively. We've got some holes. When we get it going, we're pretty good." - Leggett
"I think the biggest thing [Josh Richardson] did was keep the ball down in the zone. Anytime the pitcher keeps the ball down in the zone, it's tough to put a good swing on it." - Brittle
"We hit a lot of weak fly balls and didn't give us much of a chance. When we hit groundballs, they made the plays, except for the first play of the day that they didn't make." - Leggett
