Clemson offers Broward County CB

While Brent Venables was making his rounds through Dade and Broward Counties in Florida this spring, he offered this top 2015 cornerback.

CB Tyrek Cole Profile

Tyrek Cole, a rising junior from Miramar High School, was the recipient of that Clemson offer.

"Coach Venables came to the school and he just gave me the offer," Cole said during a recent interview with CUTigers.

The news of the Clemson offer was welcomed with open arms.

"I mean, that's a big-time offer," Cole said. "That's a big-time offer because that's a big-time school."

The Chick-fil-A Bowl win over LSU was the first thing mentioned, when asked what he knew about Clemson.

Cole added, "I know their head coach is a great head coach. He has a lot of energy. They have had Sammy Watkins, Tajh Boyd and Andre Ellington."

A trip to Clemson could be in the works.

"My coach was telling me that he was going to try to set up a South Carolina and a Clemson visit, but he hasn't said anything about it yet," Cole said.

Both Palmetto State schools have offered. So have the big three in Florida. He'll camp at Florida, Florida State and Miami later this summer.

Who leads?

"At the end of the junior year, I can answer those questions."

A couple of factors will be considered as he works towards that.

"First, academics, secondly, playing time -- things like that," Cole said. As a sophomore, he had 27 pass breakups and two interceptions. Top Stories
