Date set for Gibson

Gray's Creek [N.C.] athlete Jefferie Gibson, one of the state's top football prospects, is just a few days away from announcing his college decision.

"I'm going to do it on Monday, June 10th," said Jefferie Gibson. "I still don't know how I'm going to do it. I may do something at my school, but I'm not sure yet. I'll probably do that or just call the coaches and put it out on Twitter."

As a junior, the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder lined up at wide receiver and safety, where he totaled 70 tackles and four interceptions. He's being recruited to play both positions in college and doesn't have a preference.

"It doesn't matter to me anymore," he said. "I'll do whatever is best for the team."

Gibson, who holds offers from NC State, Clemson, North Carolina, and East Carolina, had a busy evaluation period.

"Coach Frisman Jackson from NC State came in last week," said Gibson. "He came I think two days before the period ended. LSU came through a couple of days before that. I also had in coaches from Kentucky, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and ECU.

"Coach Reed and coach Brooks from Clemson came by a couple of weeks ago... they used their visits up early, and coach White from NC State was here I think the first day of the period."

Most believe Gibson has narrowed his focus to NC State and Clemson, but he isn't tipping his hand.

"I think I'm just going to announce on Monday," he said. "I'm still looking at all of them."

However, one school could have Gibson on campus before he announces his decision.

"I believe I'm going to go to NC State on Friday," he stated. "I'm supposed to go back up there with my family."
