QB Tyler Queen Profile
After the Thursday afternoon practice came to a close, Queen met with Clemson coordinators Chad Morris and Brent Venables. That's where he learned of the Tigers' offer.
"It was just a humbling experience. It was a fun time at the camp with coach Morris. I just really appreciate the opportunity and I like to compete. It was just a fun time. I just really appreciate what they're giving me [with] the opportunity," Queen told CUTigers on Thursday night.
A rising junior at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., Queen picked up an offer from Alabama earlier this week. He's now received offers from Clemson, Alabama, Louisville, UNC, Middle Tennessee and Buffalo.
"Coach Morris said he wanted to see me move around a little bit more and work with the staff. So I knew, to get a [Clemson] offer, I had to go up there and work at my best," Queen said. "It was just a blessing and a humbling experience from one of the top programs in the nation."
As a sophomore, Queen threw for 2,607 yards with 23 touchdowns. He also rushed for 925 yards and 20 scores.
He believes an offense like Clemson's hurry-up, no-huddle, would be a good fit, particularly with Morris calling the shots.
"I really like what they do on offense," Queen said. "I really like [Morris] as a coach. He's a great guy and easy to get along with. He says all the right stuff. Every time I'm with him and talk to him, I learn something new."
Aside from the Alabama and Clemson camp stops, Queen went to Auburn on Wednesday night. He'll visit Georgia on Saturday before heading back to Auburn on Sunday to meet with Gus Malzahn. Next week, Queen will head to Florida, Tennessee and UNC.
