Pearman offers rising sophomore DE

Before leaving the Clemson campus on Thursday afternoon, Clinch County High School sophomore Chauncey Manan picked up an offer.

Tennessee was first to offer the 2016 prospect from Homerville, Ga. Clemson was offer No. 2.

Tight ends coach Danny Pearman, who recruits the area for Clemson, delivered the news.

"It means a lot," Manac told CUTigers on Thursday night, when asked about his Clemson offer. "I'm only a freshman, I'm about to be a sophomore."

He added, "It was great, because there are a lot of good people there…it felt good."

Thursday was the first visit to the Clemson campus for Manac.

"It was pretty. I'd never seen a field that big. That was really nice," he said.

Later this summer, Manac will camp at Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

As a freshman, he had 68 tackles and five sacks.

Clemson also offered Manac's teammate, 2015 defensive back Octavis Johnson.
