Williams has good trip to Clemson

Four-star defensive end spent the day in Clemson on Friday. What did he do? What stood out? And what's next?

The Eagles Landing Christian Academy [McDonough, Ga.] rising senior has spent plenty of time in Tigertown over the last few years for camps, games, practices, etc.

This time, he was in for the last day of the Dabo Swinney Football Camp. Though he didn't workout, Williams watched Marion Hobby and the defensive ends work, interacted with Dabo Swinney and Brent Venables and kept an eye on a few teammates that did go through camp drills.

"It was good. It was fun. It was real good to be back," Williams told CUTigers over the weekend.

At the conclusion of camp, Williams spent more time with the coaches and got a chance to have an in-depth look at the school.

"We had an opportunity to explore the school, got an education breakdown," he said. "We got a chance to tour the business building. They broke that down for me. Afterwards, we talked a little football. We went and watched film. It was me, coach Hobby, coach Swinney and coach Venables. And we talked football, so that was really good."

What was the message?

"Not anything I haven't heard before these past two years. Coach Swinney and coach Hobby reemphasized that they are only taking on d-end. They want me to come in and make an impact on the rotation.

"What I like about them, they don't promise a spot like some schools do. They say, you get in here, work your butt off and work you way into the rotation. That's what I like."

What's next?

"No visits have been set up. I'm trying to get somewhere, a lot of schools have invited on the weekend of the 20th, to visit. I'm trying to figure it out now, one last trip before The Opening, and a few after that."

Williams is working towards narrowing his list of offers down to ten. That could happen in the next few months.

"After that, I'll have a solid top three. From there, my decision will be made," he said.
