In just a couple of months, the Middletown High School [Maryland] rising senior will commit to either Florida State or Clemson.

Leonard was in Clemson last week for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.

"It was good. I liked it a lot," he told CUTigers over the weekend.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound prospect was joined in Clemson by his teammate, three-star offensive guard Justin Falcinelli.

"I spent some time with the players after we got down there," Leonard said. "We went to the camp, met with [Brent] Venables, talked with him for a little bit, met with Swinney, talked with him for a little bit, then I left."

What was their message?

"Same old stuff, some reasons why I should come to Clemson and the things they would do with me."

On July 14, Leonard will take his first trip to Florida State. Not long after that visit, he'll make a commitment.

"I like Clemson a lot. There are a couple of reasons. It's a good family place, good football," he said. "I like Florida State, too. They have a great defense, my father went there."

While on campus in Tallahassee, Leonard will be on the lookout for a few things.

"The biggest thing is how I connect with the coaches, the players, the people and the atmosphere down there," he said. "I have to be comfortable down there for four or five years. That's the biggest thing. It's a really hard choice, but I'll make it."

As a junior, Leonard had 67 tackles, 12 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss.
