No. 18C Ryan Norton, Redshirt Sophomore
It's tough for a freshman to take snaps away from a senior like Dalton Freeman. But when Norton did play last season, he was solid.
The ResumeNorton appeared in 12 games last season, nine of which were as an offensive lineman. He logged 277 snaps, 104 of which were against Ball State and Furman.
During his first year on campus, Norton took a redshirt, but he nearly avoided sitting out. The Clemson coaches dressed Norton for the first few games in 2011 before deciding on a redshirt.
Moving ForwardAs expected, Norton entered and exited the spring as the starter at center. Towards the end of the 15 practices, Jay Guillermo began to emerge as a more viable option.
It's possible that Norton could be shifted over and play left guard if the Clemson coaches believe Guillermo can be counted on at center. Regardless, they feel good about what Norton brings to the table at center.
