Big-time OT lists Clemson offer

Late last month, Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell sent an offer to one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the class of 2015.

The offer went to Memphis University School [Tennessee] rising junior Drew Richmond.

"I had been talking to coach Caldwell. He was telling me that he just felt like I didn't have interest in Clemson, because it's kind of far away. They've recruited some people here and they didn't show much interest. He said they're a winning program and always have been," Richmond recently told CUTigers.

It was an offer that the 6-foot-5, 305-pound prospect wanted to receive.

"I like the offense they run. I feel like it fits my style of play, being athletic and can get out there and run," Richmond said. "Coach [Dabo] Swinney, having seen him on TV, I think he's cool, just a players coach.

"I feel like they can compete for an ACC Championship and make some noise, keep building to compete for a national championship."

Asked if he would like to visit Clemson, Richmond said, "Yeah, definitely."

Ohio State, Louisville, Vanderbilt and Tennessee hosted him for visits during the summer.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Ole Miss, UNC, Ohio State and Tennessee are among those that have offered. He has no favorites.

"It's too early. It's just kind of happened so fast. I just haven't had time to sit down and weigh out the pros and cons," Richmond said. "I'm sure, probably at this time next year I'll have a better mindset on what I want to do."

A few factors will be considered as he reaches that point.

"Playing time, tradition, relationship with the coaches," he said. Top Stories
