The Shelby High School [N.C.] prospect was in Clemson for the first time since he picked up an offer at the Brad Brownell Elite Camp in June.

"I came just for practice and I got to talk to some coaches for a little bit after," DeVoe said during an interview with CUTigers after Monday's visit.

"I enjoyed watching practice and being able to see the coaches in person, and interacting with the players a little bit."

He added, "You can see that the intensity level is different, the pace of things. Also, watching the guards and seeing what they do and everything in practice, that's what I was watching."

How were those conversations with Brownell and recruiter of record, Earl Grant?

"We just talked about the season, recruiting, setting official visit dates and all that."

No official visit date was set, but DeVoe expects to take one to Clemson.

"That'll probably happen in the next couple of weeks, to come down for a football game," DeVoe said.

What did he hear from the players?

"I talked to K.J. McDaniels and he was telling me how his development has been the last couple of years, how he enjoyed playing for coach Brownell."

Clemson, Butler, Virginia Tech, Marshall, Richmond, Charlotte and Xavier have offered.

"I'm going to Butler then I'll start narrowing it down to what official visits I'm going to take," DeVoe said.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard wants to sign during the fall signing period.

As a junior at Shelby, DeVoe averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Top Stories
