Timothy suffered a concussion last Thursday night against N.C. State.
"Still having some symptoms, I don't get involved in all that stuff. Whenever they say he's ready to play, that's who we get him ready to play," Swinney said.
Shaq Anthony will start in Timothy's place.
"Proud of Shaq, because this is a guy that started a couple of games for us last year, had real high hopes for him. Then he just kind of took a nose dive on us," Swinney said.
Swinney added, "Got refocused in January. He's worked hard to get himself out of the hole he kind of dug himself in, academically, also just the trust of his coaches."
Joe Gore is "back, rolling" after undergoing knee surgery. He's behind Anthony.
Eric MacLain could also be in the mix at tackle, but he'll backup Brandon Thomas on the left-side.
Patrick DeStefano will not play against Wake Forest. He hasn't practiced this week because of stingers in his neck.
"He went back to the doctor today, actually, I think, got good news from the doctor. So, hopefully, we can get him back going Monday," Swinney said.
Swinney added, "It's a shame, because he could have really helped us this week. He could play either tackle or guard and play them well."
Carlos Watkins and Dane Rogers will not be on the sideline Saturday for the game. They'll be in North Carolina attending the funeral of a cousin who died in the car accident that Watkins was apart of last Saturday.
"It was good to finally be able to talk to [Watkins] and express to him how happy I was that he's OK and also offer him our condolences for the loss of his cousin. It was a tough situation, but it was good to speak to him," Swinney said.
Watkins continues to deal with some soreness after the wreck. Swinney is hopeful that he'll be pain free and ready to play next week.
B.J. Goodson is also questionable [concussion].
