Brad Brownell is in position to sign his first four-star prospect since arriving to Clemson in 2010. Donte Grantham, the No. 14 ranked power forward in the class of 2014, has been on the Tigers' radar for sometime now.
Grantham will announce his decision on Twitter Friday morning at 9:30. His Twitter handle is: @DonteGrantham32. Clemson and Michigan are the finalists.
He considered signing with Clemson this past spring but opted to attend a post-grad year at Hargrave Military Academy.
A product of West Virginia's Martinsburg High School, Grantham took an official visit to Clemson in April before opting to go the post-grad route.
Grantham entertained a number of offers, including Cincinnati, Miami UConn and West Virginia. Clemson hosted him for an official visit the weekend of the Georgia game and he was back in town for another unofficial during the Wake Forest game.
Hargrave head coach A. W. Hamilton told GoBlueWolverine.com in a recent interview:
"What happened was he visited Clemson at the tail end of last (school) year, the beginning of the summer and there were no students there, there was no atmosphere, and there was no college environment," Hamilton said. "He went down (last month) for the Georgia game, but he only went down there for the game. His mom wanted to see that at Clemson because he was down to Clemson and Michigan. He saw that environment at Michigan. He was able to hang out with the players and staff and he was not able to do that at Clemson.
"So his mom wanted him to do that and that was the reason behind him going this past weekend."
Hamilton added, "I think the reason why he is down to two is because obviously he feels comfortable with both staffs and both head coaches and he feels confident he can help both programs right away as a freshman.
"The biggest thing that he has got to decide this week is what he wants to be and where is he going to be happiest. He has got two great schools, two great staffs, and two great head coaches that want him."
Steve Smith has run the point for Clemson in Grantham's recruitment.
The Clemson football staff is in the mix to land another greyshirt linebacker commitment.
A senior at Blythewood High School, Williams added the Tigers' greyshirt offer back in the summer and has given them serious consideration, in addition to several SoCon and Big South offers.
Williams will announce a commitment at his school on Friday morning at 10:30. Clemson and Appalachian State are the finalists.
Decision day on Friday
