Another Top Prospect at TE/DL

The Tigers have done extremely well recruiting at the TE position over the last two years. Could another major Division 1-A prospect from the state of South Carolina be on the horizon? We had a chance to talk to one of the head coaches in the Columbia area about a prospect he thinks could be the "real deal".

Chris Dunbar, from Columbia's A.C. Flora High School may the biggest name you haven't heard of this year.

Dunbar (6'5, 230) runs a 4.7 40-yard dash and has been mentioned by his head coach as having "NFL" potential. He benches 285 lbs and squats 355. He has lean frame right now, but his coaches think it will be no problem to put on some more muscle. Dunbar plays both ways for his team, and is seen as a major Division 1-A TE or DL prospect. His presence on the defensive line has been dominating so far during the Falcon's preseason scrimmages.

"He reminds me alot of Rahim Abdullah, he's got real long arms and has a very long stride," says A.C. Flora Head Coach Robin Bacon.

"The thing about Chris, is that he's such a force as a player. He has already been pretty dominant in our two scrimmages. No one has even scored on us yet, and I expect him to be double and triple teamed the rest of the season."

Coach Bacon seems to think that Chris will be headed to junior college first, but then expects him to be a force for a major division 1-A school, "He'll put on probably 30-40 lbs in junior college, and then look out, you won't be able to stop him."

"He's been getting 3 to 4 letters a week from every major football program in the ACC and SEC. Chris Dunbar is not one of your vocal guys, but he'll get after you. He'll be a sleeper."

Chris also plays basketball for the Falcons, and has really has unlimited athletic ability. We will keep you updated on Chris' performance this season.
