Over the past several months, there has been a lot of speculation of where Lorenzo Featherston will play college football. Although that has yet to be determined, it appears that the 6-foot-7, 220-pound Featherston is getting closer to making a decision.
"He's got about six schools that he's really looking at – Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Florida, Georgia and Florida State," said Page head coach Kevin Gillespie.
"The six that he's narrowed it down to are all great schools. Any one of them would be a great choice."
According to Gillespie, Featherston claims no favorites.
"Right now based on what he's saying, I think it's really a toss-up," Gillespie said. "What he's told me as that everybody is kind of close.
"He likes all of them. He likes the coaches and enjoyed his visits. Once he's had a chance to take his official visits and he can spend little bit more time with the coaches, he'll know."
As far as official visits, Featherston has taken one and is in the process of scheduling the rest.
"He's already taken on official visit to Florida," Gillespie said. "Now, he's working on getting some of the others set up. He doesn't have anything definite yet."
The in-state schools – North Carolina and N.C. State – are both pursuing Featherston aggressively. However, so are the out-of-state schools.
"The in-state schools are pushing – they're pushing hard," Gillespie said. "They'd like to keep him in-state and I don't blame them. But the out-of-states schools are pushing hard, too. All the schools are doing a good job of recruiting him and recruiting him the right way."
There is no timetable for a decision.
"I really don't know when he will make his decision," Gillespie said. "I've told him as soon as he knows for sure, then he needs go ahead and commit and not wait until last minute."
Could location be a factor?
"I don't know if location will be a factor," Gillespie said. "He's got quite a few things in his mind that he's looking for. I think when he has a chance to see all of the schools, then he'll make a choice."
In the end, Gillespie said being comfortable at a school will play a big part in Featherston's decision.
"Ultimately, I think it's going to be the place where he feels the most at home and where he fits in," Gillespie said.
