Ranked the No. 22 tight end in the country by, Richard is in the mix for the nod as the No. 1 recruiter in Clemson's 2014 class.

Richard, who arrived to Clemson a day early for the Florida State game, spent almost the entire day before the game with five-star cornerback Marlon Humphrey. The two first met over the summer at a camp in Chicago.

"He texted me early Saturday morning asking me if I was going…he just told me that he was going to be there," Richard said.

According to Richard, the visit went well for Humphrey.

"I think he loved it. He liked the whole hill thing. That's one thing, he likes our atmosphere, and he likes our track program," Richard said.

Dabo Swinney rounded up Richard and the other class of 2014 commitments who were in town for the game for a pre-game pep talk.

"He said we're building a great class and he's excited for us to come in," Richard said. "He needs us to finish out strong and get some other guys on board, and we're doing a great job helping recruit."

As for Richard's experience in Clemson that weekend, it went just like the other game day trips.

"It was great. The atmosphere was still electric. There was no drop-off for me," he said. "Everything was the same as all the other games that I've been there. Had a great night, but for the loss. Other than that, everything was great. The fans were great. The whole day was a good day, besides the loss."

Contact from other schools has come to almost a complete halt.

"I still get all the mail, but as far as coach contact, I don't get much of that anymore," Richard said.

The Calvary Baptist Day School [Savannah, Ga.] senior could be back in Clemson for The Citadel game. If he's not in town for that, his next visit to Tigertown will be in January for his official. Top Stories
