Morris checks on four-star QB

Chad Morris already has his quarterback lined up for the 2014 signing class. But he needs to find one for the 2015 haul.

So the Clemson offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach hit the road last week to see some of the top signal callers from next year's class.

Among his stops was a visit to American Heritage High School in Plantation, Fla. to see four-star Torrance Gibson.

"Clemson came to my practice today," Gibson told CUTigers on Thursday.

It was the first-time Morris saw the 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect in person.

Gibson, who could also play safety or wide receiver at the next level, is interested in Clemson, too.

I want to [visit] Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia -- just to check it out, Alabama, because that's close to Georgia. Of course, Florida and on down," he said.

Among the schools showing the most interest right now, Gibson listed: Ohio State, Miami, Notre Dame and N.C. State.

"I didn't get to go to any games this year, but I did watch a couple of them," he said.

In addition to the Clemson offer, which he picked up in April, Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Miami, UNC, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia have offered.

"I don't really have a leader. All teams are even right now," Gibson said.

Several factors will be considered as he works towards a decision.

"Education, first, I have to go to school that fits the right education," Gibson said. "Coaching staff and just the school. I have to feel comfortable with the school. It's got to feel like home to me. So I've got to feel comfortable."

This season, Gibson has completed 80 of 148 passes for 1,702 yards with 17 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed 91 times for 878 yards and nine scores.
