Clinch County High School [Homerville, Ga.] teammates Chauncey Manac and Octavis Johnson visited Clemson in the summer for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.

Manac is a sophomore defensive end. Johnson is a junior cornerback. Both picked up Clemson offers after their trip to camp.

They were back in town for the Florida State game.

"It was pretty good. The facilities were real nice. I met with the coaching staff. The defensive end coach [Marion Hobby], he was cool," Manac said, during a recent interview with CUTigers.

What was Hobby's message?

"He was just telling me how bad he wanted to coach me. That's really all it was."

Florida, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee are among the offers for the 6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect.

Though Manac did offer a list of favorites, he did mention the Tigers, Gamecocks and Seminoles among those potential candidates.

A number of factors will be considered as he moves through the recruiting process.

"First of all, academics, I want to go somewhere I can get good academics. Second, how they treat me as a family," Manac said.

In addition to his trip to Clemson for the Florida State game, Manac went to the Florida State-Miami game and the South Carolina-Florida game.

Last week, coaches from Clemson, UNC, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina stopped by the school.

As a freshman, Manac had 68 tackles and five sacks. Top Stories
