RB Mikell Lands-Davis Profile
During this month's evaluation period, Elliott made two stops by Alexander High School in Douglasville to check in on junior running back Mikell Lands-Davis.
"[Elliott] came and saw me, said he was really impressed," Lands-Davis told CUTigers, during a weekend interview.
"He said that him seeing me was the second part of the process, now he has to go talk to [Chad Morris] and get everything situated.
"He talked to the offensive coordinator and came back to the school on Thursday."
That's when the news was passed his way.
"I was a little surprised. Since he came back down so quick, I figured – hopefully, I was going to be offered, but I didn't get my hopes up," Lands-Davis said. "But, when he offered me, I was really excited."
Lands-Davis visited Clemson this past summer for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp. He worked out primarily as a safety during the camp, but did do a little bit with Elliott and the running backs.
"I wanted an offer from Clemson since last year…they were my favorite and then they didn't talk to me for a while, so I didn't think they were going to come back. But they offered me now. That's huge," Lands-Davis said.
Several things stand out about the Tigers' program.
"I like how it's mainly just them and FSU in the ACC," he said. "They have a real nice offense. I already know Demarre Kitt. I'm cool with him. We've been talking a little bit.
"They're more of a spread team, but if you're a running back, you can do what you do."
This fall, Georgia and Auburn hosted him for game day visits. Lands-Davis thinks both could be offering in the near future.
As a junior, he rushed for 2,384 yards [8.3 per carry] and scored a total of 32 touchdowns.
