Decision day for McMillan

Raekwon McMillan, one of the top linebacker prospects in the class of 2014, will announce his college decision on Monday afternoon.

Clemson is a finalist with Ohio State, Alabama and Auburn. The four-star prospect will announce his decision on the NBC Sports Network during the SportsDash program, which starts at noon.

McMillan, who is ranked by as the No. 5 middle linebacker in the country, posted on Twitter that the decision will be announced at 12:30.

Clemson has hosted McMillan for several visits over the previous calendar year. The most recent two were during the football season. First, for the Georgia game, and again for The Citadel.

McMillan's trip for The Citadel game was an official visit. Several Clemson commitments were also in town that weekend, including Deshaun Watson, Milan Richard and Demarree Kitt, all of whom are close with McMillan.

National Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons has been tacking McMillan since his freshman season at Liberty County High School [Hinesville, Ga.].

"He is a big kid with a great frame and he is very strong," Simmons said. "He is a good striker at linebacker and he can bring that thump when he makes a play. His biggest strength is attacking the ball downhill.

"He can still improve on his play side to side and his ability to drop back into pass coverage. He is a perfect inside backer that attacks."

Simmons, like most everyone else, thinks Alabama will get the edge over Ohio State.

"Ohio State was a big leader for McMillan for months, but since he visited Tuscaloosa early in November, the Tide have been trending," Simmons said. "Clemson made a run, Auburn jumped in late and has given him something to think about too, but Alabama is clearly the school being linked with McMillan most leading up to his Monday declaration."
