Former SC pledge likes Clemson

This four-star defensive end spent a few months on the 2015 South Carolina commitment list before opting out of his pledge.

DE Arden Key Profile

King High School [Lithonia, Ga.] junior Arden Key committed to the Gamecocks last June for a number of reasons.

"One, I was looking at [Jadeveon] Clowney, he balled out that year. The atmosphere is crazy out there. The coaches, they make you want to -- coach [] Ward is originally from down here, so he knows where we're coming from. He can relate to us. That's one reason why," Key said, during an interview with Scout.com at the Georgia Junior Bowl.

There's one reason why he decommitted... timing.

"Really, nothing, I just felt like I committed too early. I just want to see every school and not burn any bridges with anybody," he said.

Key has a new plan in place.

"[To] hear every school, then around summertime I'll make my top five. Then, maybe, the school I want to go to and commit, maybe," he said.

With over 30 offers to his name, Key has taken visits to Clemson, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Auburn. He hopes to hit some West Coast schools like Oregon, USC and Washington for officials.

"Last time I went to Clemson was about 10th grade. What I remember is the facility and I went up there for a practice. That was a pretty nice experience right there," Key said.

Marion Hobby recruits the Lithonia area for Clemson.

"On Facebook and that's about it. We don't talk on the phone like that. He wants to wait until it's legal to call me, so he can call me," Key said.
