Williams returns to Clemson

Clemson currently has three linebackers committed to the 2015 class as greyshirts. But one of them, Jalen Williams, could join the 2014 haul.

The Blythewood senior still has at least a couple of weeks before he finds out if he'll enroll at Clemson in the summer or in January.

"We've just got to wait and see. We're just making sure the numbers get right, see if the numbers get right," he said, during an interview with CUTigers over the weekend.

Williams, who was joined on the Clemson campus by several other official visitors, including Andrew Williams, Judah Davis, J.D. Davis and Hunter Renfrow, was hosted by Dane Rogers and Dorian O'Daniel.

"I had a very good time. I had a great time hanging out with all the recruits and the players up there," Williams said.

He added, "But every time I was there, I was with all the guys. I wasn't with the whole team, but I was with all the d-linemen pretty much, like Corey Crawford, Tavaris [Barnes], Shaq Lawson, [Ebenezer Ogundeko], all the d-linemen."

What did they do?

"We were just hanging out at their dorm room. They were showing me around their dorm. They showed me where everything was."

Williams also spent time with defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Brent Venables.

"When I sat down with coach V, he was just telling me, when I get there, I've got to be a student of the game and he said that's why Spencer Shuey was so good, because he knew the game so well," Williams said. "He told me, when he gets me, I've got to learn the playbook inside/out, so I'm good in the meeting room. He said, once you're quick in the meeting room, you're quick on the field, because you know what to expect."

Which position might Williams end up playing?

"He didn't get specific with it. He just told me that he sees me playing all three positions."
