Four-star SF returns to Clemson

Marcus Sheffield, the No. 13 ranked SF in the class of 2015, was in Tigertown on Sunday afternoon to watch Clemson's double overtime win against Maryland.

The four-star prospect from Chattahoochee High School [Alpharetta, Ga.] was joined on the visit by his parents and brother.

"It was good. It was a great game, a double overtime game, a thriller. I also got to see the campus after the game was over," Sheffield told CUTigers on Monday night.

It wasn't his first trip to Littlejohn Coliseum this season. Brad Brownell & Co. hosted him in November for the South Carolina game.

"It was a great atmosphere," Sheffield said, when asked about Sunday's game. "It was really packed and it was loud in there."

Assistant Steve Smith led the post-game tour around campus.

"I'd seen the campus before, but I didn't get to walk around it and stuff like that," Sheffield said.

What was the message from the Tigers' staff?

"They just told me about what kind of a plan they have for me and they would love to have me down there."

In addition to his two visits to Clemson, Sheffield watched a game at Georgia earlier this season.

Sheffield has 12 offers, including Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, Maryland, VCU and Xavier. The 6-foot-5, 175-pound wing has no favorites.

Several factors will be considered as he sorts through his options.

"I'd like to go to a school where the coach can get me better and also a place that has a good education," he said. "Also, a place where it's a nice campus and it's a fun place to be."

As a junior, Sheffield averaged 27.5 points and 10 rebounds per game.
