Timeline for a decision

J.K. Britt, who was in Clemson on Saturday for Junior Day, knows when he wants to narrow down his list and at least one of the schools that will make the cut.

Before Saturday, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss had already hosted the Newnan, Ga. prospect on junior day visits.

Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Tennessee and Virginia Tech have offered the three-star cornerback.

"I won't say that I have a complete list yet. Pretty soon, I'll have a top three schools and Clemson will be in there. Clemson is pretty high on my list," Britt told CUTigers on Sunday.

The top three will be determined "within the next month."

"Once I get my top three schools, just visit those schools only and do my research on the coaches, try to get to know some of the players that I'd be around with, then commit to a school and try to recruit other players to come with me," Britt said.

That final decision will be reached before the start of his senior season at Newnan.

"I want to go ahead and commit so I can focus on my season and my team," Britt said.

Among the factors working in Clemson's favor is defensive backs coach Mike Reed, who serves as Britt's primary recruiter for the Tigers. While in town on Saturday, Britt got a first-hand look of what Reed is like during practice.

"He's very hands on. He corrects you on every play, even if you did well. He wants to help you get better every time," Britt said.

Reed has built a strong rapport with the No. 69 ranked cornerback in the class of 2015.

"We talk on Twitter a lot. We have a good relationship. He asks me how I'm doing, how school's going, it's not all just football with him," Britt said.
