Spring Break in Clemson

Monday's trip to Clemson wasn't the first Tigertown stop for sophomore running back Elijah Deveaux, who checks in at 6-1, 210 pounds.

The Charlotte Christian sophomore had been six times before he and his father went by the Clemson campus on Monday for No. 7. Area recruiter Danny Pearman served as the host.

"It was good getting a 1-on-1 experience with coach Pearman, getting to see the indoor facility [upgrades] for the first time and that's going to be up by the time I'll be enrolling in college. That was really neat to see that. I also got to watch some highlights from last season and talk about the academic things as well," Deveaux said, during an interview with CUTigers late Monday afternoon.

Like Charlotte Christian, Clemson is also on spring break this week, so seeing Pearman meant a lot to Deveaux.

"Him taking the time out of his spring break to come tour me around was big. He didn't have to do that and he decided to take time out of his spring break and come tour me around, talk to my dad," Deveaux said. "It was a well needed trip and we got a lot out of it."

Mississippi State and Temple have offered. Boston College could be next. Tennessee is also in contact. Auburn will host him for a visit on Tuesday.

In regards to an offer, Clemson could make a decision as early as this summer when Deveaux returns to camp and works with running backs coach Tony Elliott.

"If all goes well, then they'll pull the trigger then," Deveaux said.

But he plans to be back before then.

"I think I'm going to go back down to Clemson for a spring practice and get to sit in on some meetings and stuff like that," Deveaux said.

As a sophomore, Deveaux had 217 carries for 1,850 yards and 24 touchdowns.
