Florida CB excited about Clemson offer

Earlier this month, the Clemson coaches sent out an offer to this three-star prospect from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville.

CB Javaris Davis Profile

Javaris Davis, who is classified by Scout.com as a running back, is viewed as a cornerback by Clemson.

"Coach Chad Morris and [graduate assistant] coach [Michael] Hamlin had called my coach and told him that they had an offer to me," Davis recently told CUTigers.

Davis spoke with Hamlin after the word was passed his way.

"[Hamlin] was just like -- I was a topic of discussion. They had a meeting that morning and he was just telling me they loved my film," Davis said. "They really want me and they wanted me to come down [for Junior Day], but I [had plans] for Miami, so it was a bad timing. I'm trying to get up there, hopefully, soon, if one of my coaches can take me up there. I'm very excited."

Morris had been in regular contact with the 5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect.

"Coach Morris was talking with me on Twitter and stuff like that," Davis said.

He's still getting to know the Clemson program.

"I know they love recruiting Florida players. They have a great program, great coaching staff. I don't really know too much. When I continue to build my relationship with the coaches, I'll be able to find out more when I got visit," Davis said.

Aside from that recent trip to Miami, he's visited UNC, USF and UCF.

In addition to Clemson, Davis has several offers, including Boise State, Michigan State, Nebraska, UNC, Syracuse, UCF and Wisconsin.

"I'm still trying to evaluate everybody, keep my options open," he said. "But, hopefully, by the fall, our first regular season game, I'll have it decided."

As a junior, Davis had 79 carries for over 900 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 240 yards and two scores. On the defensive side of the ball he had 29 tackles, 10 pass breakups, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
