Cervenka returns, sets more plans

After his last two trips, Gage Cervenka has left Clemson with plans for his next trip to the school. So, after Saturday's spring game visit, when will he be back?

Cervenka will return to Clemson on Tuesday.

"I'm going to see the academic side of Clemson," he told CUTigers on Saturday night. "I've been up there many of times, but I haven't really gotten to see what the academics are like. I've seen the campus and all their facilities, but I haven't seen the academic facilities."

The Emerald High School junior defensive tackle filled in the rest of the details of what when during Saturday's visit.

"I enjoyed it…I kind of got up there a little late, I had to take the ACT, but got up there and it was pretty much the same deal," he said. "I got to talk to coach [Mike] Reed. Coach [Dabo] Swinney talked to the group of players that were up there. Went on the field and watched them warm-up a little bit, then just watched the game."

What was the extent of his conversation with Reed?

"We were just talking. I was letting them know I was coming that I was coming up, just kind of chit-chatting, talking about this Tuesday, make sure everything was setup, because I'm going to be coming up there again."

Cervenka was impressed with what he saw on the field Saturday, particularly from the guys on the defensive side of the ball.

"I was just enjoying it. I was just watching them play. I was impressed by their defense. They looked really good," he said. "I know coach [Brent] Venables is a great coach. Their whole coaching staff is great up there. I was impressed with how they were playing. I was really kind of questioning how they would turnout, because they lost some key players, but I think they'll be just fine."

As a junior, Cervenka had 100 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and three sacks.
