Another 2017 CB offer out

The previous DBs coach at Clemson didn't particularly care for players who were less than 6-feet tall. That's not an issue for Mike Reed, the current coach.

During his tenure at Clemson, Reed's passed out several offers to several 5-foot-something cornerbacks. Archer High School [Lawrenceville, Ga.] freshman Jamyest Williams is the most recent.

The 5-foot-8, 160-pound cornerback picked up his Clemson offer during a phone conversation with Reed on Monday, two days after he visited for the Orange and White spring game.

"I called him. We were just having a conversation and he said, ‘Yeah, we're going to offer you.' I love coach Reed, real cool guy. We relate very well. Our talks are good. Everything about coach Reed, I like coach Reed," Williams told CUTigers earlier this week.

Saturday's trip was his first visit to Clemson.

"It was a great atmosphere. The fans love the recruits. It was a very cool experience getting to go there and meet the coaches, the coaches were real cool," Williams said. "I love coach [Brent Venables], real cool guy. Coach [Tony] Elliott, all of them are real cool people. it was a very great atmosphere down there. I loved it."

Georgia Tech, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee State and Charlotte have offered. The Tigers are out front.

"At this point, I would probably have to say Clemson is my highest favorite," Williams said.

Any reason in particular they're out front?

"Their atmosphere is good. The way me and coach Reed have that connection, I feel Clemson is, right now, my favorite."

As a freshman, he had 32 tackles, 16 pass breakups, three interceptions and 400 all-purpose yards.

Auburn will host Williams for a visit this weekend. Top Stories
