Queen City RB sees Clemson

This 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back from Charlotte Christian School in North Carolina was in Clemson last Saturday to see the Orange and White spring game.

Sophomore Elijah Deveaux has a trio of offers: N.C. State, Pittsburgh and Temple. Clemson could jump on board later this summer.

"They want to see me at camp. If I perform well at camp, then they'll end up offering me," Deveaux told CUTigers the day after his visit for the spring game.

A Clemson visitor in March, he went over the details of Saturday's experience.

"It was awesome. We ate first. Then, they took us to the academic site. We talked to some advisers, their academic advisers…then, we walked out of the locker room, got on the bus," Deveaux said. "On the bus, they had the film playing from the Georgia game when Clemson came down the hill and the whole stadium was jumping. We lapped around the stadium and then they stopped the bus right by the hill. It was sweet."

Area recruiter Danny Pearman and running backs coach Tony Elliott spoke to Deveaux before the game.

"I liked it. The game went really well, some big runs from several different running backs," Deveaux said. "I could see myself fitting into that offense really well. It's fast, up tempo, similar to what we run now, no-huddle. I like the way coach [Chad] Morris runs his offense."

As a sophomore, Deveaux had 217 carries for 1,850 yards and 24 touchdowns.
