Venables sees, offers '16 CB

Among the first offers handed out by Brent Venables during the evaluation period was to this 5-11, 170-pound cornerback from Lake Taylor HS in Norfolk, Va.

CB Wayne Davis Profile

To date, Clemson and James Madison are the only offers for sophomore Wayne Davis.

CUTigers caught up with Davis last week to discuss the Tigers' offer.

"Coach Brent Venables came Wednesday to my practice and watched me workout, doing 1-on-1s and a couple of drills," Davis said. "[Venables] said he liked my fight, how I get out of my breaks and I'm fast. He said I had the offer."

Excited about the offer, Davis is familiar with Clemson.

"It feels good, because I went on a visit there last summer. I went to the high school camp," he said.

Davis added, "I loved the facilities, the weight room, the dining hall and all."

There won't be a return stop for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, but he does plan on making another trip to Tigertown.

"It is the team camp, but I have exams, but I will try to make an unofficial up there. That's what I told coach," he said.

What else is on tap for this summer?

"I know for sure I'm going to James Madison with my team, that's a team camp. I'm supposed to be going to North Carolina's one-day camp."

As a sophomore, Davis had eight interceptions.
