Campbell to cut schools, but when?

George Campbell is still listening to all schools, but that will change at some point. When does he want to cut his list down? Get the latest on the five-star here.

When asked what schools stopped by to check on him last week, George Campbell said, "Not many."

Not many to him may be many to others.

Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, Ole Miss, and a few others spent time at Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake last week. That is a nice list.

All those schools are after Campbell, a five-star wide receiver, and he is still hearing what each has to say.

"I am trying to build a list of schools, but I am not there yet. I am still working to build relationships with coaches, I am still talking to a lot of different schools, and it is going to be hard to cut my list down."

A number of schools are working hard to show Campbell he is high on their list. "Florida, Auburn, UCLA, Michigan, LSU, and USC are recruiting me the hardest," said Campbell. Many others send mail daily, send messages on Facebook, and do all they can to show the 6-foot-4, 180 pound playmaker that he is a priority.

By the end of the summer, Campbell hopes to have his list down considerably. He has offers from top programs coast to coast, so he is working towards a list that he can manage moving forward.

"There is nothing definite yet, but I am working to get down to five schools this summer. I want to get out to see schools like UCLA, LSU, Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and a few others.

"I do not have any visits set yet, but I know I will be taking some. I just need to see some places, meet some coaches, and get a little better feel to make my cut.

"I want to get down to five, but if I cannot, I will get down to at least 10 schools. That will be the highest for me."

Campbell is set to commit at the Under Armour All-American game in early January and he plans to take five official visits this fall.

He does not know who will get those yet, that is what he is working towards. Many say relationships play a big role in their cuts and ultimately, their decision, but not Campbell.

"Relationships will play some part in my decision, but not that much," said Campbell. "Coaches can leave at any time, so it will not be that big to me. I do not want to get to know them, but other things will play a bigger role.

"It will come down to where I feel I fit in best and where I feel I have the best opportunity to play right away at. Those things are big for me." Top Stories
