Clemson offers 4-star cornerback

This 6-foot, 165-pound sophomore cornerback from Phenix City, Alabama recently picked up an offer from Clemson, to go along with a number of offers from the SEC.

CB John Broussard Profile

Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Mississippi State have offered John Broussard, a 2016 prospect from Central High School.

Clemson jumped into the mix last Wednesday after Marion Hobby stopped by his school.

"He told me, but it was after he talked to my coach about me. He said they were going to send me an offer," Broussard said, during a recent interview with CUTigers.

Did it catch him by surprise?

"It kind of did, because I hadn't heard from them a lot, so it kind of caught me off guard."

What does he know about Clemson?

"Not too much…but I know they're a good school and they generate some good players out."

A visit could be in the works.

"I'm probably going to go in the summer."

Broussard said he also wants to see the instate schools and the defending national champions this summer. During the spring, he visited Auburn twice.

"I went on an unofficial to one of their practices and then their spring game," Broussard said.

As for a list of favorites, he's not ready to start naming favorites.

"I'm just open right now. I don't have a top five yet," Broussard said.

Two factors will be kept in mind along the way.

"Really, what I'm going to be looking at is the relationship I have with the coaches. Then, before I make a top five or anything, I want to go to the campuses, see what they're like," he said.

This spring, Broussard was named Defensive Back MVP at the Nike Football Training Camp in Birmingham. He also won the same award at the Valdosta MVP Camp.
