TE Jackson Harris Profile
It was down to 10, now it is down to five for Jackson Harris.
Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and Vanderbilt are the schools Harris is still considering and his list is likely to be down to one within the next few weeks.
"I am pretty close [to a decision]," said Harris. "I am thinking early June right now or somewhere around there. I just want to be sure of things first."
Harris has had commitment in his mind for a couple of weeks, but the mature four-star tight end is thinking things out and making 100-percent sure before he verbals to anyone.
He has visited Alabama twice, Clemson once, Florida once, Georgia twice, and Vanderbilt numerous times due to the distance. He may visit Alabama and Vanderbilt one last time, but he already has a good feel for each program.
When asked about each of his finalists, he had this to say:
Alabama: "It is a great program and they did not take any tight ends in 2014, so I think I would have a chance to play early."
Clemson: "I like the staff and I like the campus and feel there in general."
Florida: "I grew up a Gator fan with my dad doing his residency down there, so I have always liked Florida. It is an awesome program and I like their new offense."
Georgia: "I have a great relationship with the coaches and I like Georgia's offense."
Vanderbilt: "Vanderbilt is right down the road and I like the new offense they are bringing from Stanford. I also think I could play early there."
The No. 10 tight end on Scout is not far from announcing which school he will be a student-athlete at in 2015. All five schools are on the 6-foot-5, 240 pound Columbia Central (Tenn.) star hard right now, so he will take all the time he needs before giving his word to one coaching staff.
When he is ready though, he will commit with excitement.
"I am looking forward to committing very much," said Harris with a laugh. "I just need to make sure I find the best school for me first. I am going to pick the school I feel I will be most happy at.
"I may know that school already, but I want to be sure first. I will take a little more time, but I will probably be ready to commit early in June."
Harris is close, real close
