Looking to visit Tigertown

Now that Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables has offered, junior cornerback Malek Young wants to visit.

Last week, Venables stopped by Coconut Creek High School in Florida to offer four prospects. Young, 5-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback, was one of the prospects to net a Clemson offer.

"My coach told me that Clemson came by and was there to watch practice," Young told CUTigers, during a recent interview.

He added, "I was very surprised about it. I wasn't thinking that Clemson would offer me."

Young hopes to learn more about the program later this summer.

"I'm going to try to visit Clemson in the summer, most likely I will, because I know my parents will drive up there," he said.

In addition to Clemson, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Rutgers, USF, UCF, West Virginia and Wisconsin have offered.

Clemson, for now, is the only school he hopes to see this summer. In the past he's taken visits to Miami, Florida, Georgia, Georgia State and FAU.

And while the Tigers like him as a cornerback, some schools have offered as an athlete or wide receiver.

"It really doesn't matter," Young said, when asked which side of the ball he would prefer at the next level.

Instead, he'll be focused on one primary thing with his potential suitors.

"First, if they have what I want to major in and that's sports medicine," Young said.
