WR Deon Cain Profile
Friday's announcement will be made between 2:30 and 3 o'clock at the school's media center. Scout.com National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Newberg will be on hand to provide live coverage.
Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and LSU are among the finalists.
A two-year starter at quarterback for Tampa Bay Tech, Cain passed for 1,945 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior. During his sophomore season, he threw for 1,645 yards with 10 touchdowns. On the ground, he's rushed 198 times for 963 yards and seven touchdowns.
Cain has just one catch for four yards over the last two seasons.
Ranked by Scout.com as the No. 11 wide receiver in the class of 2015, he's also No. 111 overall prospect in the country.
Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott offered Cain during last December's evaluation period.
"I know they're having kind of a good season right now," Cain told CUTigers the night he was offered. "I've been watching some of the big games that they've been playing, but I still love the school, because it was one of my favorite schools growing up.
"Most definitely, I love the entrance, coming in, coming down that [hill]. As I look at the games, it looks like they have a family thing going on."
Cain took his first visit to Clemson last month.
Accompanied by wide receivers coach Jeff Scott, Elliott hosted Cain and his family on the third Saturday in April.
"Spending time with them, it was like I was already there. They made me feel like I was already there. They were telling me what was going on with the school," Cain said. "Coach Scott was telling me more about the offense and showing me some factual stuff. He's a pretty cool coach. He's a real cool dude. I learned a lot about him and coach Elliott. They're some real good people."
Tampa Bay Tech head coach Jayson Roberts, commended Elliott and Scott for the way they've recruited Cain.
"I think the job that coach Elliott and coach Scott have done has definitely put them in a position to be one of the favorite teams for him to decide on [Friday]," Roberts said. "I take my hat off to those guys. They've done a heck of a job."
