CB Saivion Smith Profile
The Lakewood High School [Saint Petersburg, Florida] rising junior was offered by Clemson in May. Florida, Nebraska Ohio State and Penn State have since jumped on board.
In addition to his trip to Clemson during the second session of the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, Smith has visited UCF, Florida and Virginia Tech this summer. He hopes to see UCLA, Kentucky, Louisville and Ohio State, too.
CUTigers recently caught up with Smith to talk about his trip to Clemson.
"It was phenomenal," he said.
What stood out?
"The coaches and just the facilities, and I liked the atmosphere."
What did Swinney & Co. have to say?
"They were just saying to keep focusing on my academics. Coach Dabo, he was just saying that he was excited to meet me."
For Smith, there's plenty to like about Clemson, but there's one thing in particular that stands out.
"It's a college town. I just love the college town, honestly," he said.
There is no list of favorites.
"It's kind of early to make a list right now. We're kind of looking around, to see what we have a feel for," Smith said.
Clemson likes him as a cornerback, so while Smith was in town, he met defensive backs coach Mike Reed.
"I spent a lot of time with him. We talked some Xs and Os, got on the board a little bit," Smith said.
He added, "He has a wealth of knowledge."
As a sophomore, Smith had about 700 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. He accumulated 400 yards on punt and kick returns. On the defensive side of the ball, he had six interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.
