Fort Myers, FL Prospect Randy Hand

Yesterday we featured a profile on offensive lineman Brian Johnson, a huge force out of Northern Florida. Today we stay in the Sunshine state with arguably one of the best prospects at the offensive tackle position. Meet Randy Hand from Estero High School in Fort Myers, Florida.

"Right now, my top five is Michigan, Virginia, Georgia, Clemson, and Florida," says Hand. "I've received offers from all over, Virginia, Clemson, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Auburn."

With a 6'6, 300 lb frame, even some of the larger schools from the Big Ten (Michigan) and Pac 10 (Southern Cal) have been calling.

Hand is projected as a full qualifier with a GPA over 2.85 and an SAT score of 1080 and has indicated that academics are very important in the school he attends.

Randy Hand is certainly another one of those very strong and powerful linemen. He has benched almost 350 lbs and squatted 450. He has a 27- inch vertical and is considered to be quick on his feet, especially for his size.

Hand participated in the "Down & Dirty" camp for linemen this summer and was quite impressive, displaying great athletic ability for someone who, for lack of a better phrase, is just plain huge.

Most of the experts we've spoken with about Randy Hand have indicated he is one of the top 2 or 3 offensive line prospects in the state of Florida. He is currently ranked as the 18th best offensive tackle in the country by Max Emfinger.

I think it speaks volumes about the progress Tommy Bowden and his staff have made that this kid has us as a realistic contender. Hand has mentioned the Tigers in almost every interview he's done in the last six months. Don't count out the Tigers just yet because he's from Florida, if we can get a visit out of this fine student-athlete, we have as good a chance as anybody. Top Stories
